Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Stoic Bastion Press ("we", "us") collects, uses, and protects information when you visit stoicbastion.com, read our blog at blog.stoicbastion.com, or purchase our digital books.
Information We Collect
Purchases
When you purchase a book, checkout is handled by Lemon Squeezy, our Merchant of Record. Lemon Squeezy collects your name, email address, billing address, and payment details to process the transaction, calculate applicable sales tax or VAT, and deliver the product. We receive a limited summary of your order (name, email, product, country) for fulfillment and customer-support purposes. We do not see or store your full payment card details at any point.
Lemon Squeezy's own privacy practices are described at lemonsqueezy.com/privacy.
Analytics
We use privacy-friendly, aggregate analytics to understand how visitors find and use the site:
- Cloudflare Web Analytics on the landing page — no cookies, no cross-site tracking, no fingerprinting. Records anonymous aggregate metrics such as page views, referrer, country, and device class.
- Tinybird Web Analytics (integrated with Ghost) on our blog — first-party analytics that record anonymous page views and referrers. No personal identifiers.
If you subscribe to our newsletter or contact us by email, we store your email address and any message you send us in order to reply and, where you have opted in, send future issues. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any newsletter email, or by replying to ask us to remove you.
Cookies and Local Storage
The landing page sets no tracking cookies. Our blog and checkout pages may set essential cookies required to keep you logged in, maintain a checkout session, or remember display preferences. These are not used for advertising or cross-site tracking.
How We Use Information
- To fulfill your order and deliver the digital products you purchased.
- To provide customer support and respond to your questions.
- To send transactional emails (receipts, delivery links, license keys).
- To send newsletters, only if you have explicitly opted in.
- To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
- To comply with legal obligations, including tax and accounting requirements.
We do not sell your information. We do not share your information with advertisers or data brokers.
Legal Basis (EEA / UK)
If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, our legal bases are: contract (fulfilling purchases and support), consent (newsletter subscriptions), legal obligation (tax/accounting), and legitimate interests (fraud prevention, aggregate analytics).
Retention
Order and tax records are retained for as long as required by law (typically seven years). Newsletter subscriptions are retained until you unsubscribe. Support emails are retained for up to two years after the last interaction. Aggregate analytics retain no personal identifiers.
Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate information.
- Request deletion of your information (subject to legal retention requirements).
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Port your data to another service.
- Withdraw consent for newsletter communications at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at [email protected]. We respond within 30 days.
International Transfers
Our infrastructure is hosted on Cloudflare (global), a Ghost CMS instance on a DigitalOcean droplet in the United States, and Lemon Squeezy (global, operated from Spain). By using the site and purchasing products, you understand that your information may be processed in these jurisdictions.
Children
Our products are intended for adult readers. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a minor has submitted information to us, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
We may update this policy to reflect changes in practice or law. Material changes will be announced at the top of this page and, where appropriate, to subscribers by email. The "Effective" date at the top of this page always shows the current version.
